Camping & Ground Sheets buying guide
Camping tarpaulins earn their place in the car. One light sheet can be a ground sheet under the tent, a rain shelter over the cooking area or a cover for kit. Our camping tarps are waterproof polyethylene from 70gsm to 140gsm, with clear PVC and waxed canvas for specialist jobs.
Ground sheet or shelter: what do you need?
Ground sheets
A tarpaulin ground sheet protects the tent floor and keeps damp out. The 110gsm tarpaulin and the 140gsm silver tarpaulin are tough enough for regular trips. The clear PVC ground sheet is heavier and comes in 17 sizes.
Tarp shelters
For a shelter, lighter is better. Choose the 95gsm green camouflage tarp, the 80gsm economy tarpaulin or the 70gsm blue and green tarpaulin.
High visibility
The 90gsm orange tarpaulin is easy to see, which helps on a busy site or when you want to mark your pitch.
Waxed canvas
The 1.2m x 1.8m waxed cotton canvas sheet is breathable and water-resistant. It makes a small, hard-wearing cover for tools and kit.
What to pack with a tarp
Bring rope for a ridge line, tent pegs for the corners and a few bungee cords to keep the sheet tight.
