110gsm Tarpaulins buying guide

Quick answers

What is the difference between 80gsm and 110gsm tarpaulin?

110gsm is heavier per square metre and has a 10x10 weave. It resists tearing better and copes with longer spells outside. 80gsm costs less and suits short jobs.

Does the 110gsm tarpaulin roll have eyelets?

No. The roll is supplied unhemmed and without eyelets so you can cut any length. Add eyelets or tarp grabbers where you need fixing points.

Is 110gsm tarpaulin waterproof?

Yes. The polyethylene is laminated on both sides, which stops water passing through the weave.

Can I cut a tarpaulin to size?

Yes, and a roll is made for it. Cut with a sharp knife or scissors, then fold the edge over before you fit eyelets so the edge holds better.

Should I choose white or blue?

White keeps a covered area bright. Blue is the standard site colour and hides dirt better.
