80gsm Tarpaulins buying guide
80gsm tarpaulins are the light, low-cost choice for quick cover. Each sheet is woven polyethylene with a waterproof coating, so it keeps rain off and folds down small when the job is done. Choose blue, green, camouflage or black and white, in sizes from 1.2m x 1.8m up to 18m x 33m.
What is an 80gsm tarpaulin good for?
An 80gsm sheet suits jobs that last days or weeks, not years. It is easy for one person to carry, spread and tie down.
- Covering logs, garden furniture and tools between uses
- Dust and paint protection during DIY
- Ground cover and rain shelter on camping trips
- Wrapping materials on a short building job
Which 80gsm sheet should you choose?
80gsm economy tarpaulin in blue, green or camouflage
The 80gsm economy tarpaulin is woven HDPE with an LDPE coating. It is waterproof, UV-treated and rotproof, and comes in 19 sizes. Pick green or camouflage to blend into a garden, or blue for a standard site sheet.
80gsm black and white tarpaulin
The 80gsm black and white tarpaulin is waterproof and resists abrasion. It comes in seven sizes from 2m x 4m to 16m x 32m, which makes it a low-cost way to cover a large area.
How to fix a lightweight tarpaulin
Light sheets lift in the wind, so tie down every eyelet. Use bungee cords or rope, and add tarp grabbers where you need an extra fixing point. Measure the area, add about 30cm on each side for tie-down, then check the tarpaulin size guide before you order.
When to choose a heavier grade
If the cover will stay out through winter, step up. 110gsm tarpaulins are a little stronger, 140gsm tarpaulins suit log stores and trailers, and 200gsm tarpaulins handle roofing and site work. You can also browse all economy tarpaulins.
